Flint
Hospitality Industry

Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Flint, Michigan area.

Now the seat of Genesee County, Flint began in the mid-1800s as a sorting and processing station for lumber as it traveled the Flint River. Flint’s current reputation as the “Vehicle City” began when William Durant built his first carriage factory, helped with the early financing of the new Buick company, and became the first company to mass produce Louis Chevrolet’s creation, a partnership which gave birth to what is now General Motors. Originally called Grand Traverse by the initial settlers who established the first trading post, Flint is now the fourth largest city in Michigan, and the downtown area with its River Walk and 30-acre cultural center are the envy of many larger towns. The many bed and breakfast inns in the villages around Flint offer a glimpse of Michigan history and a wealth of antique shops, though Flint also has its share of contemporary, full-service hotels and convention facilities in the downtown area.
